A Study of health promotion program for the elderly

Abstract
The elderly are increasing because of the rise of the average life span, so it has been a goal of health management that the aged have a healthy and active life without disease. This study is designed to develop health promotion program to improve health status by changing life-style and health behavior in the elderly. The purpose of this study is to provide a basis for nursing intervention strategies to promote health behaviors. For this, three previous health promotion programs were reviewed in term of components of those programs. The results were as follows: 1. Components of the program were health education, health assessment, exercise, leisure, hair & skin care, psychological health program. 2. The topics of health education that were often included in the programs were medical knowledge, independent living, the concept of health promoting and changes to aging. 3. They discovered their health problems through health assessment or health risk appraisal. 4. The topics of exercise program that were included in the program were morning exercise, walks, ball games, ballan tennis ROM exercise, sport dance, exercise for lower backpain. 5. The topics of leisure program that were included in the program were morning tea, news reading, bingo, art a craft, quiz a puzzles, sing along, domino. drawing. recreation, cooking. 6. The topics of hair&skin program that were included in the program were beauty care, nail & hand care, menicures, massage, foot massage, hair cuts. 7. The topics of psychological health program that were included in the program were reminiscing, pet therapy, touch therapv, memory games. worship.
